Beer League - Summer Season Final
What an incredible evening of hockey and a thrilling conclusion to the season! I had the pleasure of capturing two intense games: Grey Wolves vs. Feisty Lizards and Rebels vs. Reservoir Dogs.
Armed with the valuable experience gained from last time during the Ice vs. Inferno game, I came prepared with two camera bodies: my D810 and D90. For lenses, I brought along the Nikon 24-70 and Tamron 18-270, allowing me to seamlessly transition from short to long-range shots without any delay. Initially, I was a bit skeptical about the D90's ability to capture crisp moments with the Tamron lens, but to my surprise, it performed admirably, snagging some truly great shots.
This time around, I opted for manual focus and kept the ISO low. I've found that cranking up the ISO too much can make the images grainy, which, in my opinion, detracts from the quality of the shot.
You've probably gathered by now that my photographic style leans towards the black and white, imbued with moodiness and a bold attitude. However, there's something uniquely captivating about the atmosphere at an ice rink. The stark juxtaposition of the white ice against the colorful jerseys, coupled with the distinctive lighting, creates a compelling ambiance. Remarkably, this setting allows me to stay true to my style while embracing the vibrancy and dynamism of the scene.
The photos featured above were taken with the Crisp Nikon 24-70, below are the photos from the Tamron
As mentioned previously, the images captured with the Tamron lens aren’t as crisp as those taken with the Nikon lens, but I was still able to achieve some great dynamic compositions. While the Tamron may fall short in delivering sharp imagery upon zooming in, it excels at capturing the essence and momentum of the moment.
